The song with an underlying message, ‘Honey’, was co-written and co-produced by American singer Mariah Carey (aka MiMi), Puff Daddy, Stevie J, and Q-Tip. It was recorded for her seventh album Butterfly in 1997.

The song is well known for its video, which showed a more sexual and less conservative side of Mariah than anyone had ever seen. It also started her musical transition from pop music towards a more hip hop feel. The song was nominated for the 1998 Grammy Awards for "Best Female R&B Vocal Performance" and "Best R&B Song".

Mariah held prisoner.
In the video, Mariah is hand cuffed in a chair wearing a little black dress by mafia looking Italian-types. This is said to reflects on her then husbands Italian heritage and his rumored ties to the Mafia as well as her unhappiness in her marriage.

She escapes and looses her clothing which is said to signify her new found freedom and she is seen appearing in just a bikini.

Why is it boiling hot?
The video was inspired by James Bond films and shot in Puerto Rico, one of the sexiest places on earth.  Even though it starts out with Mariah in a little black dress and 4-inch metal stiletto heels, it escalates to a barely clothed MiMi.

The video screams of a woman trying to break free of inhibitions and is shot with beautiful people in beautiful places. The question does remain however…… how in the world does she swim while undressing and wearing 4-inch metal stiletto heels?
